This conference has concluded.

Our next Cal TURN event is scheduled for March 3-4, 2016 in Sacramento, CA. Our conference will focus on Building Capacity to Maximize Continuous Improvement and Excellence. We will continue our focus on 4 priorities from the LCAP template: pupil engagement, school climate, student achievement and parental involvement. We will also further explore the changing roles of our union, school and district leadership in building and strengthening collaborative partnerships to improve teaching effectiveness and student learning.

We are assembling presenters, both from our local unions and districts as well as nationally recognized specialists and guests to share promising practices so we can learn from and support each other’s work. Topics include:

•Focusing on Professional Practices – A Comprehensive Approach

•Peer Assistance and Review Programs

•Evidence of Student Learning – Beyond Test Scores

•California’s Continuous Improvement and Accountability Plan

•Leading Learning Through Collaboration

•Professional Learning Communities

•Aligning Collaborative Leadership Structures That Empower Educators and Engage Students in Learning

Our Cal TURN teams represent union & teacher leaders, school & district administrators and board members who are working jointly to plan and implement teacher evaluation systems and college and career ready standards to improve teaching and learning. We continue to encourage and support our Cal TURN teams to jointly develop, implement and share their efforts. Additionally, we will work with teams to develop action plans in order to facilitate the work in our school communities.

Cal TURN locals are encouraged to invite representatives from their district and school administration, boards of education and community leaders to join their teams for this two-day forum. The conference will begin at 9:30 am on Thursday, March 3, with registration beginning at 8:30am, and will conclude by 2:30 pm on Friday, March 4.
