Cambridge, MA (Sept 27-28, 2013) ~ Teams representing union & teacher leaders, school and district administration, school board members and state leaders - a total of 80 participants - met at the Microsoft Corporation Cambridge Center, in Cambridge MA, to continue the work of building a culture of collaboration focused on teaching and learning.
Dr. Patrick Dolan and Dr. Adam Urbanski framed the joint work of participating teams to learn from the early implementation efforts of teacher evaluation and student growth measures in districts and states in the Northeastern region. The following sessions were featured throughout the two-day conference:
- Partnerships for Change by Burlington and Winooski School Districts, Vermont
- Leading Teacher Quality Efforts, Massachusetts Teacher Association, MA
- The Work of Joint Committees in Developing Teacher Evaluation Systems featuring resources provided by the Illinois Teacher Evaluation and Development (ITED) online guidebook
- Improving Teacher Effectiveness through Teacher Evaluations and Student Growth, Albany, a NYSUT Pilot Site
Marlboro Central School District, NY, led out the following sessions:
- Technology Implementation – Teachers and Management Collection for Special Education and ELL
- Designing and Delving into Common Core Lessons with Intervention by Marlboro, NY CC Vocabulary Strategies for SWD and ELL
- Communicating with All Parents Around the Common Core
- Math Modules & Strategies K-12 and Special Education
- Prezi and the CC High School for All Students
NE TURN teams concluded the 2-day forum to assess their needs and determine how best to implement the CCSS in their schools and classrooms. NE TURN Virtual Community Organizer, Zach Wiseman, has begun capturing the action planning efforts of our NE TURN teams as well as presentations during the conference.
