Our next GL TURN Labor-Management Collaboration Conference: Reframing Our Approach to prepare Teachers & Students for the 21st Century is scheduled for November 6-7, 2014 at the Double Tree Chicago-Downers Grove, 2111 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515.

We will be assembling presenters, both from our local unions and districts as well as nationally recognized specialists and guests to showcase and share their efforts in our Regional TURN Communities of Practice in ways that enable us to learn from and support each other’s work.

Topics include:

  • Preparing our Teachers & Students for Life and Work in the 21st Century • Re-Evaluating Teacher Evaluation
  • A Common Sense Approach for the Common Core
  • Re-thinking the Issue of Time
  • Common Sense Assessments
  • PARCC-Lessons Learned
  • Team Planning-Rethinking Our Work

Our GL TURN locals are encouraged to invite representatives from their district and school administration, boards of education and community leaders to join their teams for this two-day forum. We continue to encourage our GL TURN locals and districts to continue to share their collaborative efforts to plan and implement teaching and learning initiatives as part of our Regional TURN Communities of Practice. Please come prepared to engage with other teams to listen, learn, push and support each other’s work.

WHAT Two-Day Labor-Management Collaboration Conference for GL TURN Teams

WHEN November 6, 2014, 8:30am-5:00pm, registration begins at 8:00am November 7, 2014, 8:00am-2:30pmbreakfast and lunch provided each day

WHERE Doubletree Suites Hotel & Conference Center Chicago-Downers Grove, 2111 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, IL 60515

WHO Teams representing union and teacher leaders, school and district administration, school board members and state leaders..

DETAILS There is a $120 per person registration fee, which includes a continental breakfast and lunch on both conference days. Registration checks or purchase orders should be made payable to CEC and mailed to Laura Sestak, 2030 Timberbrooke, Suite A, Springfield, IL 62702.

Hotel Accommodations: A block of rooms has been reserved at the Doubletree Suites by Hilton Hotel & Conference Center Chicago-Downers Grove at 2111 Butterfield Road, Downers Grove, IL at a cost of $109.00 plus taxes and fees per room per night. To guarantee room accommodations at this rate, you must make your hotel reservations by October 15, 2014 by phoning 1-800-HILTONS and requesting rooms for “Great Lakes TURN” block.
