The Fall meeting of SW TURN will be held at the Hotel Andaluz(125 2nd St NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102) on September 16th and 17th, 2016. Program On Friday afternoon, Sept.16 beginning at 1:00 pm we dig more deeply into teacher-led and community schools.
The next Southwest TURN meeting will be held on September 16-17, 2016. This is an update to the original dates selected in November. While the agenda is not set for the meeting, you can be sure that we will continue to delve into inequality, teacher-led and community schools, topics that were well received according to the evaluation of our last meeting.
As has been our tradition, SW TURN tries to focus on what teachers think are the better ways for improving schools for all students. To that end, we visited the Mathematics and Science Leadership Academy (MSLA) the teacher-led public elementary school that has been in existence for seven years.
SW TURN convened in San Antonio, TX, November 5-6, for their fall meeting. Participants included 3 new locals from the state of TX. We were joined by the President Noel Candelaria of TSTA and Texas AFT President Louis Malfaro.
The meeting is shaping up to be one of the most important and meaningful we have ever scheduled. You are going to want to be there!The meeting will be held at the Warwick Hotel (1776 Grant St, Denver, CO 80203) on April 15th and 16th. We have secured discounted valet parking at $10 per day. Street parking is likely to be available on Saturday.
Save the Date Southwest TURN Conference November 6-7 in San Antonio, TX
Location: Warwick Denver Hotel Friday’s sessions (convene @ 1:00pm) will include a comparison of existing PAR programs, which will be meant to help those interested in learning more about how to negotiate PAR in your district. We will also analyze how time is used in the high school day and the corresponding instructional strategies needed to make better use of student learning time.
Atlanta, GA (Nov 2-3, 2013) ~ The fall 2013 meeting of Southwest TURN was held in Atlanta, GA on November 2-3, following the National TURN meeting. The meeting included presentations on Peer Assistance and Review and the Common Core, as well as the usual SW TURN business meeting and framing and messaging training.
